Furnace, Fire and Steam- inspired activites

Join in a variety of fun furnace, fire and steam inspired events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. See various steam machines in action on different days; a highlight most Wednesday mornings will be an iron casting demonstration in the Town’s foundry.


Enamelling, Pewter, Casting or Paddleboat Making Workshops

26th July 2017 - 3rd September 2017

Discover more about how furnaces, fire and steam were used in the Industrial Revolution through a variety of fun, and safe, hands-on activities. Different workshops will be held on different days when families can try enamelling and pewter casting or use their imagination to create a paddleboat to sail across Enginuity’s pool. Activities vary from day-to-day and most carry an additional charge; museum admission charges apply.


Furnace, Fire and Steam - inspired Tile Decorating Workshops

26th July 2017 - 1st September 2017

Join a drop-in furnace, fire and steam themed tile decorating workshop and try the tube lining technique to produce a tile featuring your own design and choice of colours. Tiles cost from £5 each and can be fired and sent home later for a small extra charge to cover postage and packaging. it takes 1 and a half hours to decorate a tile so last admission is 3pm.


Inspiring Tiles

Enjoy family craft activities at St Mary’s in central Shrewsbury this summer holiday as part of Church Tourism Week - the nationwide celebration of innovative events in historic churches. Investigate the colourful tiles which decorate the floors (and sometimes walls!) of St Mary's, and be inspired to paint a tile of your own with Shrewsbury's very own Splat 'N' Splodge. Families can drop in from 10:30am to 3:30pm on 26th July to take part at a cost of £5 per tile, and return later to pick up their tile after firing.

Can you find him by the old font, in the chapel, and beside the big colourful stained glass window? Record the letters Jesse gives you, unscramble them to find the password, and claim your sticker!


Farm and Forest School Holiday Club

27th July 2017 - 31st August 2017

Holiday Club for ages 8+ every Tuesday and Thursday of the school holidays. Farm, and Forest School, mud, sticks, marshallows, goats, rabbits etc. Parents do not need to stay. Booking is essential.


Hencote Vineyard Tour and Wine Tasting

27th July 2017 - 27th July 2017

Visit and explore the 60-acre grounds, vineyard, ancient riverbed, and gardens.The evening will begin with a drinks reception and nibbles. This will be followed by guided tours of the vineyard, occupying 15-acres of the estate, grown on south facing slopes looking over amazing views of Shropshire. Naturally, there will be lots of wine tasting, specifically the types of still and sparkling wines that we will be producing ourselves. (Our still wines should be ready for 2018 and our sparkling by 2020 / 2021). Each guest will taste 5 wines, 2 sparkling and 3 still. These will be accomanied with a charcuterie and cheese board. Make sure to book your Vineyard Tour time slot early as spaces will run out!


1930s Music Hall Evening

Step back in time, and along to some fantastic music, at our nostalgic 1930s-themed music hall evening at Blists Hill Victorian Town.   To kick-off the evening we’re serving up a delicious feast of Creamed Chicken with Spinach and New Potatoes followed by Sherry Trifle in the atmospheric Forest Glen Refreshment Pavilion. After you’ve enjoyed our home-cooked dinner we’ll be taking to the dance floor with a night of fantastic music and entertainment straight from the Thirties!
