On the Buses

Let the train take the strain. Then stop off during the day at Bewdley station where our bus rally has now become a firm favourite in the calendar. Come and see our line-up of vintage buses all beautifully preserved. We have a selection of stalls selling bus memorabilia that may take your interest or maybe have a bite to eat, and watch the buses go by, at our hot pork roll stand.      


Shrewsbury River Festival

10th September 2017 - 10th September 2017

Free, Family Fun- in the quarry and the River Severn. Includes raft race, duck and boat races, coracles, fancy dress competitions, live entertainment and demonstrations on River Safety by emergancy services. Trade and Catering services are also available


Open Cockpits Evening

15th September 2017 - 16th September 2017

A wide range of aircraft are available for close viewing including; transport aircraft, jet fighters and unique research airframes. Visitors will be able to get a feel for what it was like to fly these much loved machines and in addition, have after-hours access to the museum.


Autumn Steam Gala

21st September 2017 - 24th September 2017

The return of our flagship steam gala in 2017, with its famed all-night running, array of visiting locomotives and intensive timetable. A great line-up of visiting locomotives supported by members of the Severn Valley Railway home fleet, alongside a whole host of other special attractions.    


Shrewsbury Flea Market

23rd September 2017 - 24th September 2017

SHREWSBURY FLEA is a fabulous mixture of Antiques and collectables, antique furniture, vintage clothing & fabrics, architectural salvage, reclamation and just that quirky stylish item that will compliment your home. SHREWSBURY FLEA is a relaxed place to both trade and visit with brilliant regular traders and loyal customers on a fantastic showground within walking distance of Shrewsbury Town centre. We regularly see between 2700 - 4300 visitors and between 100 – 150 traders over the weekend and this fair is ever increasing in popularity. Traders can book and pay ONLINE with our new ONLINE booking system.


Open Air Cinema - Top Gun

Jumpsuits…check! Aviators…check! Pilots…engage screen! One of the most iconic aviation movies of all time ‘Top Gun’ will be showcased on a giant inflatable screen at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on Saturday 23 September 2017. This 80’s cult classic military movie is the first to be shown in the Museum’s new outdoor event which will take place in the spacious grounds, against a backdrop of aircraft. Harvest Festival

24th September 2017 - 24th September 2017

Acton Scott Historic Working Farm will be holding its annual harvest festival on Sunday 24th September. In the morning the dray will be decorated with corn dollies, apples and the harvest loaf ready for the afternoon procession. The local vicar will lead the procession through the length of the farm while giving thanks to the animals for providing food and other materials. The day ends with a repast where staff and customers enjoy a selection of food and drink made by the cottage ladies and have a taste of the harvest loaf.


International Piano Recital - Pietro Fresa

27th September 2017 - 27th September 2017

Pietra Fresa, a 17 year old pianist from Italy flies to Shrewsbury's St Chad's Church to play a recital of music by Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin and Debussy.


The Ginger and Spice Festival

27th September 2017 - 30th September 2017

A brand new heritage food and drink event ‘The Ginger and Spice Festival’ celebrating the culinary, heritage and historical links of spices, food and gingerbread, to the town of Market Drayton, Shropshire, will be taking place from Wednesday 27th September to Saturday 30th September 2017 for the first time. 1940s Music Hall Evening

29th September 2017 - 29th September 2017

Step back in time, and along to some fantastic music, at our nostalgic 1940s-themed music hall evening at Blists Hill Victorian Town.   To kick-off the evening we’re serving up a delicious feast of Spam Hash with Carrots and Potato Mash followed by Pear Crumble in the atmospheric Forest Glen Refreshment Pavilion. After you’ve enjoyed our home-cooked dinner we’ll be taking to the dance floor with a night of fantastic music and entertainment straight from the Forties!
