Insect and Beetle Trail

24th July 2017 - 3rd September 2017

Inspired by M.G. Leonards award winning book ‘Beetle Boy’, we will be running an educational Insect and Beetle Trail around the 12 acre woodland garden over the summer holidays (from Monday 24th July 17). Families will be invited to explore the garden guided by the Beetle Trail which will journey through the woodland quarry and garden teaching visitors how to identify Beetle species as well as informing about their habitats and life cycles. There will be Beetle identification sheets and also a display of sample Beetles donated by PHD entomologist, Fran Sconce, from Harper Adams University. Families will be asked to collect items along the trail and then make their own beetle to take home. M.G. Leonards books will also be available for sale in the gift room. The trail is free of charge and aims to educate children and families about Beetles, other insects, and wildlife that lives within the 12 acre hillside garden.


Giant Garden Games

24th July 2017 - 3rd September 2017

There will be a selection of children’s giant garden games available on the garden paddocks throughout the summer holidays. Families can enjoy games such as croquet, giant snakes and ladders and football. 


Maisy's Amazing Maize Maze

25th July 2017 - 30th September 2017

Test your navigation skills in this amazing maize maze, you’ll never have so much fun getting lost! This great summer activity is included in the entrance cost at Shropshire's multi award winning farm park. There are two discovery quizzes in the maze for an extra challenge!

Join in a variety of fun furnace, fire and steam inspired events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. See various steam machines in action on different days; a highlight most Wednesday mornings will be an iron casting demonstration in the Town’s foundry.


Enamelling, Pewter, Casting or Paddleboat Making Workshops

26th July 2017 - 3rd September 2017

Discover more about how furnaces, fire and steam were used in the Industrial Revolution through a variety of fun, and safe, hands-on activities. Different workshops will be held on different days when families can try enamelling and pewter casting or use their imagination to create a paddleboat to sail across Enginuity’s pool. Activities vary from day-to-day and most carry an additional charge; museum admission charges apply.


Learn to Ride

What a better way to finish the Summer Holidays than to ride your bike for the first time without stabilisers?For Children ages 4 and above, join the session led by cycling instructor Ray Hughes to help young riders move from stabilisers or balance bikes to a pedal bike. Parcipants will need to bring: A bike (preferably with stabilisers removed), A helmet and Suitable outdoor clothing. FREE event for children aged 4 and above and children must be accompanied by an adult.


Prison Escape

Think you have what it takes to escape an actual prison? Now you can find out. Prisoners have the day to attempt to escape, the first challenge will be getting out of your cell. If you managed this you will then have to navigate around the site, avoiding officers and any prisoners who might ‘grass you up’. You will need to use all of your cunning to decide which is the best route out of the prison site and timing will be the key to success.


A Night in the Dana - Prison Sleepover

Immersive Events, in conjunction with Jailhouse Tours, are bringing you the only way to spend a night in a cell! That is, without a prison sentence!! These one off ‘Night in A Cell’ events are a bit of a change to your usual hotel or hostel stays, adding an extra dimension to your Shrewsbury and Shropshire visits.

Flight simulation event heads to Cosford

Aviation fans can experience the virtual skies in Shropshire next month as the Flight Sim 2017 event heads to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford for a fifth consecutive year. Taking place on Saturday 7 October, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a day packed with all the latest flight simulation software and the chance to test out their virtual flying skills.
