MODERN RAIL ROYALTY, VINTAGE BUSES AND REAL ALE TAKE OVER THE SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY FOR ONE WEEKEND ONLY The beautiful surroundings of the heritage Severn Valley Railway (SVR) will play host to modern rail royalty, buses and beer during one jam-packed weekend.

In direct contrast to the SVR’s usual offer, visitors will be able to experience a journey along the Severn Valley as never before when UK Railtours’ The Silver King visits the SVR on Saturday, 6th September 2014.

With over 3000hp under the bonnet, power-operated doors, air conditioning and Wi-Fi, the Chiltern Railways silver ‘Mainline’ set, features silver mark three carriages hauled by a Class 67 diesel electric locomotive, all in distinctive silver livery. At the other end of the train, a matching Driving Van Trailer will complete the formation operating in push-pull mode.

Starting its journey in London Marylebone, the train will travel on the Chiltern Line before arriving in Kidderminster where it will cross on to the Severn Valley Railway and continue through the beautifully restored stations at Bewdley, Arley, Highley and Hampton Loade to the end of the line at Bridgnorth.

At Bridgnorth, The Silver King will become available for public use on the return journey to Kidderminster where visitors will have the opportunity to view the Class 67 and ‘Mainline set’ on the platform.

Following The Silver King’s visit, the Railway will next play host to its On The Buses event on Sunday, 7th September.

During the day, Bewdley station will be taken over by a superb display of historic public service vehicles from all parts of the country, including a 1950's double decker bus which doubles as a fully-licensed bar.

There will also be sales and information stands, die cast and tinplate toys, and the opportunity for visitors to enjoy bus rides around Bewdley town centre.

Between Thursday, 4th September and Sunday, 7th September, visitors to the Railway can also sample a great range of real ales in the historic surroundings of Bridgnorth station during the Beer Festival in association with CAMRA.
