Parts of St. Mary's church date mainly from the 14th Century although the West door is Norman.

The town of Market drayton itself is famed as being the home of Clive of India. Clive went to school in the building in the south east corner of the churchyard. He is reputed to have climbed out on the gargoyles at the top of the top of the tower.

The interior of the church features excellent woodwork screens and altar in the south aisle chapel, whilst the north aisle features fine paintings by local artists.
